What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine, or virtual visits, is medical diagnosis and care that takes place outside of your doctor’s office. Instead of visiting Caring Pediatrics for your child’s care in person, you can use technology to communicate with your pediatrician from your home or anywhere that’s convenient. 

Telemedicine makes consistent medical care more accessible for you and your child. You’ll visit the team over high-quality video chat using a phone, tablet, or computer. 

While these visits won’t fully replace in-person visits at Caring Pediatrics, you can use them to supplement your child’s regular health care when it’s convenient.

It’s also important to note that all telemedicine visits at Caring Pediatrics are private and confidential, just like typical in-person visits. 

You and your child can still ask questions and describe symptoms just as you would in a normal medical setting. Sometimes, providers can even perform evaluations or certain tests with telehealth. 

What are the benefits of telemedicine?

Even if you and your child aren’t very familiar with technology, Caring Pediatrics makes telehealth simple to access for anyone. During one of your regular in-person visits, the team can assist you with setting up the necessary technology to make your next visit virtual. 

When should I book a virtual telemedicine visit for my child?

The team at Caring Pediatrics can assess your child during a virtual visit if they have mild symptoms that are new, or if your pediatrician needs to follow up with them after they start a new treatment or change a treatment plan. 

While there are some tests that are reserved only for in-office visits, like blood tests or urinalysis, during a virtual visit the team at Caring Pediatrics can talk to you and your child about new symptoms, worsening symptoms, or symptoms that have improved with treatment.  

Your child’s pediatrician can also adjust medications or dosages during a virtual visit. They can recommend nutrition and diet changes, as well as other treatments and lifestyle changes.
